Database Security

There are many steps to securing your system and its data but the most important is the development of a security policy that outlines and maps out the enforcement of a security plan. Most organizations realize that there is no one solution for securing systems and data; instead a multi-layered security strategy is required.

Part of setting up a server, and setting up a database, is making sure that unauthorized users can't access the data as it holds more and more sensitive information such as financial data, personal data, credit card numbers, etc.

Databases are extremely complex systems and difficult to correctly configure and secure. A study by Forrester Research estimated that DBAs spend only 7 percent of their time addressing database security. The problem cited is that the DBAs don't have the time to do security and as a result serious security vulnerabilities and mis-configurations frequently go unchecked or completely undetected.

We at AKATI Consulting believe that the creation of security policies and the implementation of a security plan must precede the more operational steps of securing your system and database.

In order to understand your organisation’s security exposure, we conduct a comprehensive assessment of your database servers before deployment. Part of setting up a server, and especially part of setting up a database, is making sure that unauthorized users can't access the data
